MINIMUMEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
. - Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
- Must be MCOLES licensed or eligible for licensure (MCOLES certifiable) at the time of appointment.
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation, psychological evaluation, drug screening, and physical examination.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with department-issued firearms and maintain required qualifications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required.
- Experience with CLEMIS CAD/RMS, LEIN, or other public safety computer systems is preferred.
- Must possess strong communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Must be available to work a regular schedule of fewer than 30 hours per week, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional special events or emergency call‑outs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Patrol the Village to preserve the peace, protect life and property, and deter criminal activity.
- Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and citizen requests for assistance.
- Engage in community policing and foster positive relationships with residents, businesses, and visitors.
- Investigate criminal incidents, traffic crashes, and other reported events by interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects, and collecting evidence.
- Enforce Michigan laws and Village ordinances through warnings, citations, arrests, and other appropriate enforcement actions.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports, citations, and other required documentation.
- Appear and testify in court, administrative hearings, and other legal proceedings as required.
- Attend and successfully complete required departmental and professional training.
- Assist neighboring local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as appropriate.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE:- Regular part-time position scheduled fewer than 30 hours per week.
- Shifts may include 8‑hour, 10‑hour, or 12‑hour assignments, as well as shorter shifts for special events, community functions, or operational needs.
- Must be available to work days, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional emergency call‑outs as assigned.
- STARTING DATE: ASAP
- Starting hourly wage: $27.75 per hour (subject to change based on the current collective bargaining negotiations).
- Regular part‑time position working fewer than 30 hours per week.
- Opportunities for extra‑duty assignments at Village Special Events, parades, festivals and other community events.
- Department‑issued uniforms and equipment provided.
Opportunities to work a variety of assignments, including bicycle patrol, marine patrol, and foot patrol.
