Job DescriptionSummary:
Under the direction of the Director of Operations, and the Level 3 Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Level 1 person shall be able to perform the minor repairs on buildings and equipment as well as perform a variety of semi-skilled duties in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting. The Level 1 Maintenance worker also assists the Level 3 Maintenance Foreman with other duties in the maintenance field.
The Level 1 Maintenance worker must also comply with safety guidelines and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass a maintenance exam.
- Must have worked in the custodial field for 2 years preferred.
- Pass a physical examination, drug screen and background check (CHRI).
- Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds.
- Must be able to read written directions and literature in his/her field and be able to express themselves clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to use power tools.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and Chauffer license.
- Ability to work off ladders and scaffolding.
- Willingness to obtain asbestos training.
- Ability to adhere to district confidentiality policy.
- Must be knowledgeable in regard to State of Michigan and Federal mandates as required.
Job Duties
- Replaces broken windows.
- Performs electrical duties to include replacement of ballasts, fuses, light switches, outlets and plugends.
- Repair and replaces broken door hardware.
- Performs plumbing duties to include replacing faucets, sinks, toilet parts, etc.
- Repair furniture.
- Floor tile replacement and training under Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act. Asbestos training will be provided.
- Perform Boiler Room inspections as needed.
- Clock, bell, heating and cooling systems programming.
- Painting and minor carpentry.
- Maintenance of Air Handling Unit and Cooling Handling Units, ie changing oil, filters and coils.
- Attends training classes as deemed necessary.
- Follows all Federal, State and local OSHA and MIOSHA standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $19.20 to $27.19 Per Hour
