Position Summary
Clinton Engineering (CEC) is a full‑service general contractor and leader in construction for the Clinton Community and surrounding areas since 1926. Specializing in design‑build, new construction, rehabilitation and renovation of commercial, industrial and municipal projects, CEC employs a local, experienced workforce that self‑performs in a variety of trades.
About the RoleThe Heavy Equipment Operator will haul and operate heavy machinery such as skid steers, dump trucks and mini excavators for construction projects in the Clinton, Iowa, area.
Responsibilities- Operate skid loaders, mini‑excavators, and other heavy equipment in a construction environment.
- Maintain a safety‑focused mindset while working efficiently around crews, equipment, and active job sites.
- Adapt to changing job site conditions and contribute as a dependable team player.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical and background check.
- Experience operating skid loaders, mini‑excavators, and other heavy equipment.
- Class A CDL is a strong plus; candidates willing to obtain one are welcome.
- Safety‑focused mindset and ability to work efficiently around crews, equipment, and active job sites.
- Dependable team player who is willing to jump in where needed and help keep projects moving.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to adapt to changing job site conditions.
This position starts at $28+/hour for candidates without a CDL, with a starting rate of $31+/hour for candidates with a valid Class A CDL.
