As a Registered Nurse, RN at Mercy One Clinton, you will serve as a clinician, team member, and professional and practice under these roles according to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (2004). The Registered Professional Nurse is accountable for the delivery of evidence-based, safe, efficient, and family-centered care in order to achieve the Mission of Mercy One Clinton Medical Center and the Vision of Patient Care Services.
Key Responsibilities- Practice within the legal scope of a Registered Professional Nurse as outlined in the Iowa Nurse Practice Act (2006); retain accountability for your own nursing practice.
- Responsible for planning, assessing, intervening, co‑coordinating, and providing direct patient care by utilizing critical thinking skills.
- Communicate with physicians, ancillary caregivers, patients, and families regarding the patient’s plan of care.
- Fulfill the responsibility of holistic (body, mind, and spirit) nursing care based on the mission, vision, and values of Mercy One Clinton Medical Center.
- Perform assessments including physical, psychosocial, nutritional, functional, safety, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs.
- Active registration for Registered Nurse – Board of Nursing, State of Iowa.
- Must be BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
- Must be ACLS certified within one year of hire.
- PALS certified preferred.
- 2–4 years experience as an RN preferred.
- Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization preferred.
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must be capable of problem solving, critical thinking, and assessment of patient condition.
- Experience preferred.
- Must possess a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
- Associate’s degree or diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
