Mercy One Clinton Medical Center is a Catholic, not‑for‑profit, full‑service community health system serving counties in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. With approximately 50,000 patient admissions every year, the center operates 249 licensed beds and offers a continuum of care, including wound care, radiation oncology, dialysis, imaging, sleep disorders, therapy services, and skilled care.
Position OverviewWe are looking to hire a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. The RN will utilize evidence‑based practice, critical thinking and assessment to plan, implement, and evaluate outcome‑based care for a diverse patient population with varying acuity (post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic). The RN supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants and other nursing team members, and facilitates communication with physicians, patients, families and interdisciplinary team members.
EssentialFunctions
- Conducts patient assessment, identifies problems and develops a plan of care.
- Implements outcome/goal‑based plan of care.
- Evaluates patient progress and revises the plan as needed.
- Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes and goals.
- Demonstrates clinical competence and manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
- Provides care appropriate to the age‑related needs of the patients served on the assigned unit.
- Adheres to safety, infection control, and colleague health policies and procedures.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and related policies to ensure ethical and professional behavior.
PRN RNs work 12‑hour shifts:
Day shift 7:00am – 7:30pm, Night shift 7:00pm – 7:30am.
- Associate degree in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
- Current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Iowa.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities).
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
