This position will work as part of the CCRESA Engagement Team and will be responsible for providing educational leadership and expertise on maximizing student engagement within the educational setting. This will be accomplished by working directly with school-based teams in their support of students currently experiencing barriers (i.e. behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and/or disability-related, etc.) to engagement. Through the use of professional development, consultation, and coaching, the Engagement Coach will support teams in building the skills necessary to implement universal supports, conduct individualized assessments and design individualized intervention plans, collect baseline and progress data, monitor implementation fidelity, and facilitate effective team processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides coaching and consultative services to school staff supporting students with complex needs
  • Maintain regular outreach with school teams, provide timely responses to requests for support, and follow through with commitments to provide the framework for a positive experience for school teams
  • Provide professional development, consultation, and coaching services to help school staff better understand the unique needs of students with barriers (i.e. behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and/or disability-related, etc.) to successful engagement in the school environment
  • Support school teams in building their own internal capacity for supporting students with barriers to successful engagement in the school environment
  • Provides professional development to school staff in the implementation of universal supports, development of high-quality programming, assessment of individualized needs, development of individualized plans, data collection, and
  • implementation fidelity
  • Serves as a liaison between school, community agencies, and families
  • Engage teams in collaborative problem-solving in situations where the student is unable to meaningfully engage in the educational experience
  • Must have the ability to respond appropriately to challenging student behavior in a calm manner and provide modeling for other school staff in de-escalation strategies
  • Supports and models the implementation of strategies from universal supports to highly individualized strategies
  • Participates in and/or provides coaching in individualized assessments, including Functional Behavioral Assessments
  • Participates in and/or provides coaching in the development of individualized plans, including Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Demonstrates and models effective practices for students with barriers (i.e. behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and/or disability-related, etc.) to successful engagement in the school environment
  • Provides consultation in the selection or creation of effective student support materials as requested by local teams
  • Provides coaching and modeling in the use of effective data collection tools to meet the needs of the individual student or situation
  • Communicate effectively and in a professional and courteous manner with school staff, administrators, agencies, and families
  • Be familiar with and follow individualized plans as well as building and district procedures
  • Assist in the development of efficient and effective team meeting structures and decision-making processes and provide leadership in facilitation
  • Provide coaching in the systematic assessment of environmental supports, student needs and implementation of evidence-based practices
  • Leads and models for instructional staff with the implementation of specialized, instructional materials and strategies
  • Leads and models the implementation of behavior plans and behavior support systems needed to improve student functioning
  • Develops capacity for local district staff
  • Capacity to become a trainer in any identified need area related to the role (ex: Trauma, TRAILS, PBIS, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Intervention, etc.)
  • Participate in regular Engagement Team meetings to provide progress updates from cases, identify common need areas to inform future professional development needs, engage in review of implementation of procedures to ensure consistency among team members, and review feedback from consultation/coaching to continually refine/improve practices
  • Maintain accurate and organized records
