** University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks accomplished UMGC undergraduate and graduate students to work online as part-time peer tutors for UMGC students. Tutoring is offered remotely in a variety of ways, including real-time audio and live chat sessions using the  platform, which students can access from their classrooms, and scheduled visual conferencing via Zoom sessions, which students can attend.
** COURSES TO BE SUPPORTED UNDER THIS POSITION:
** Undergraduate and graduate courses
** SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE UMGC PEER TUTOR INCLUDE:
*** Provide support as a UMGC student or alumni peer tutor to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in UMGC courses.
* Respond to undergraduate and graduate students’ questions and concerns related to their UMGC classroom navigation and functionality
* Refer students to specific subject tutors for questions about course concepts related to assigned readings, projects, or homework assignments
* Provide clarifications, examples, and tutorials that support the student in developing a problem-solving strategy and authentic learning
* Promote a professional, respectful, and safe online learning environment
* Create, update, and present guidelines and other resources related to the classroom navigation and functionality for peer students and other peer tutors
* ** Hours of study and research tutoring services:**  + Mondays-Thursdays: 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. ET  + Mondays-Thursdays: 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. ET  + Saturdays and Sundays: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. ET
** REQUIRED

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

*** Be a current undergraduate or graduate student at UMGC with a minimum of two consecutive semesters completed not more than a year ago
* A grade of “A” in any version of PACE (for undergraduate candidates) or in UCSP 615 (for graduate candidates) and having taken either course not more than a year ago
* Fair knowledge of the navigation and functionality of the UMGC online classroom
* Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills in English
* Ability to clearly communicate step-by-step instructions in verbal and written formats
* Ability to work closely with one or more students at a time to ensure student success
* Ability to work with diverse student populations
** PREFERRED

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

*** Letter of recommendation or referral from a PACE or UCSP 615 faculty member
* Background in teaching, tutoring, and/or other type of learning support experience initiatives
