Position OverviewThe Youth Leader is responsible for working in partnership with the adult counselors in the Student Success Center on the Longwood Educational Campus to offer services on college awareness, college preparation, and individual college counseling. The goal of the Student Success Center is to help create and sustain a college‑going culture on the campus. Youth Leaders are an integral part of accomplishing this goal.
Reports to: Program Manager
Hours: 10 Hours/Week;
Non‑Exempt
- Provide peer-to-peer counseling during lunch, advisory and/or after school.
- Create and deliver workshops around college access (grades 9‑12).
- Actively participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Attend the Youth Leadership for College Access Summer Institute and Youth Leader Conferences throughout the year.
- Conduct outreach and recruitment regarding college services, trips and events.
- Complete all required paperwork and data entry to ensure high quality services.
- Serve as a constant positive representative of the college office.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Working papers required.
- Must be a current student on the campus.
- Must be on track to graduate and have high attendance.
- Must be a motivated, responsible, and hardworking team player that is willing to learn and is able to work well with students and staff.
- A written recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor required.
- Must be committed to attending college.
