Network Engineer (Subject Matter Expert)

Qualifications
  • Education:

    BA/BS in (Preferred) Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years as a Network Engineer within the Department of Defense (DOD) environment.
  • One academic year at an accredited college or university in a preferred degree‑related post‑secondary program can substitute for one year of experience.
Responsibilities
  • Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor network engineering performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Configuration and Installation
  • Configure and install various network devices and services, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS settings.
  • Maintenance and Upgrades
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Resource Monitoring
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning to optimize network performance.
  • Change Management
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Vendor Liaison
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution and technical support.
Subject Matter Expert Role
  • Provide exceptional qualifications and expertise in network engineering.
  • Initiate, supervise, and develop requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs.
  • Provide strategic advice, technical guidance, and expertise to program and project staff.
