Job DescriptionDuties
- Supports the Commander, Deputy Commander, Director of Staff and Directors. Provides critical analysis and brainstorming on issues of interest to senior leadership.
- Serves as the advisor on programs and initiatives within the group. Maintains cognizance of the effectiveness and status of Commander programs and activities by reviewing program status documents; internal metrics and/or productivity reports; management indicators; inspection, staff assistance, and audit reports; and from visual observations and personal contacts within the AFDW Staff, HQ Air Force, wing/group staff and operating personnel.
- Updates Staff on conferences, including analysis of topics covered, potential problems and recommendations. Writes reports, builds briefings and prepares other necessary correspondence to provide updates; analyzes information, identifies problem areas, and makes recommendations concerning assigned program, plans and projects to the commander.
- Plans, organizes and executes complex programs, meetings and visits, e.g., visits from senior government representatives, senior foreign government representatives, wing commanders. Recommends program changes to managers/supervisors.
- Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Independently plans and performs complex office automation duties requiring different approaches and methods from one assignment to another, such as using different packages to: edit lengthy and complicated reports;
collect, select, organize, and provide information; and resolve incompatibility problems in transferring text from one software package to another when menu options and specific software instructions are not available.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes (1) Applying thorough knowledge of staff operations management concepts, principles, and methodologies. (2) Using qualitative and quantitative techniques for analyzing and measuring effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of administrative and technical programs, along with knowledge of the mission, organization and work processes of programs throughout a military command, complex multi-mission local installation, or equivalent, and the relationships of administrative support activities to such missions.
(3) Experience assessing programs/projects, analyzing findings and making recommendations on substantive operating programs and skill in preparing staff reports/briefings and skill in organizing and delivering briefings to managers to encourage understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in
