ROLE
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Paediatric and adult assessment, including triage
- 12 lead ECG Interpretation
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- Recent/related courses, in-services in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing
- Ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues
- Ability to work independently, with excellent communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize and problem solve
- Decisive and sound judgement in handling difficult situations
- May be assigned to accompany patients on transfer
- Visible and approachable for patients, families and staff with ongoing communication regarding patient monitoring and evaluation of activities.
- Excellent client counselling, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and effectively interact as a team member in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Effective leader, organizer and planner capable of making timely decisions and exercising tact and good judgement.
- Forty Five (45) minute return time will be required when scheduled for standby
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION
- Recent clinical experience (minimum two years) in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing
- Advance Paediatric Life Support (APLS) or Paediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
- Clinical Nurse Educators that offer on-site training
- Clinical Scholars available for on unit assistance and questions
- Preceptor/Peer Mentorship Opportunities
- Collaborative Team Environment
- Nurse Support Line (Experienced Nurses or Registered Respiratory Therapists available for advice on non-emergent issues)
- Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
- Extended Health/Semi Private and Dental Benefits (for Part-time and Full-time only)
