American Traveler is hiring an experienced NICU RN for a Level II Special Care Nursery role requiring NICU II experience, CPAP proficiency, and NRP/STABLE certification.
Details- Level II Special Care Nursery / NICU unit
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Patient population includes neonates 34 weeks
- Required to float to Postpartum and Labor & Delivery for neonatal care
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Uses ventilation systems for High-Flow O2, CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
- Uses BD Alaris Smart Pumps and point-of-care blood glucose measurement equipment
- Active RN license (MD or Compact)
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience within the last 7 years
- NICU II experience required
- CPAP experience required
- Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment
- Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
- Proficient in respiratory support including High Flow O2, CPAP, Bubble CPAP, and mechanical ventilation
- Proficient in central line management, peripheral IV insertion, lab draws, and IV antibiotic administration
- Proficient in neonatal resuscitation and thermoregulation for pre-term and full-term infants
- Skilled in stabilization of newborns less than 32 weeks for transport to a Level III facility
- Experience with UAC (Umbilical Artery Catheter) placement and care
- Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
- Must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
- Flu vaccine required
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining cardiopulmonary, neurologic, metabolic, and thermal stability in neonates
- Assist with specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture and endotracheal resuscitation for newborns 32 weeks or greater
- Initiate, modify, or stop treatment according to established protocols or physician orders
- Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
- No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
- Maximum of 7 RTO days allowed per 13-week contract
- Previous Med Star employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a travel nurse
- First-time travelers will not be considered; prior travel assignment experience required
