Position SummaryThe Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Metro Field Inspector
. This role monitors Metro Train Operators and Station Attendants for schedule adherence, compliance with MTA rules, equipment functionality, and station cleanliness to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable public transportation.
- Monitor train operators and station attendants for adherence to schedules and MTA rule compliance.
- Assist MOCC with rescheduling service and provide operator assistance during disruptions and system issues.
- Conduct Safety Rules Compliance Program (SRCP) testing.
- Monitor radio communications and respond as directed.
- Document compliance and other reports required by Field Management.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by Metro Senior Management.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding schedule adherence, operator compliance, facility conditions, service conditions, and compliance initiative violations.
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
ExperienceFive years of experience in a transit system and/or transportation operation. One year of rail operations experience is required, with a proven record of high‑quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Selected Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Management, or related field may substitute for experience (up to two years).
- U.S. Armed Forces service involving staff work related to rule administration, policy procedures, or unit operation coordination may substitute for education and experience.
- Call‑in 24 hours a day and maintain a reliable communication link for emergency call‑back requirements.
- Work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
- Travel to various locations throughout the MTA service area.
- Subject to substance‑abuse testing in accordance with federal regulations.
Require a valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license. Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) at all times.
