Salary NotesThis position is designated as a Union position. All new hires must start at the entry level rate for this role per the collective bargaining agreement/MOA with OPEIU, Local 6. Pay may advance within the salary band according to the CBA/MOU.

Notes- The Electronic Monitoring Program is a 24 hour/7 day a week program of the Massachusetts Probation Service located at the Probation Training Academy in Clinton, MA. Employees are assigned to work one of the following shifts:
- First shift (7 A.M. to 3 P.M.);
Second shift (3 P.M. to 11 P.M.);
Third shift (11 P.M. to 7 A.M.)
- First shift (7 A.M. to 3 P.M.);
- Applicants must indicate the shifts they are interested in working in the screening question when prompted.
- A successful candidate may be required to work night and weekend shifts, depending on the operational needs of the program.
- The successful candidate must also be available to work extended shifts when required to maintain continuous coverage during shift changes.
- The successful candidate must also be available to work holidays when required.
Monitors probationers, parolees, and the Department of Corrections (DOC) inmates (clients) on the GPS monitoring and remote breath alcohol testing equipment, advises them on best practices to stay in compliance and troubleshoots any issues. Handles equipment- generated alerts, investigates and triages justice-involved client issues or potential violations, provides administrative support by completing warrants, working with public safety personnel and the day-to-day duties of the electronic monitoring office.
Fields telephone calls from court officials, public safety personnel, and clients, and responds appropriately with good customer service. Communicates issues to supervisors, probation officers, the Warrant Management Unit (WMU), and MPS senior staff. The Electronic Monitoring Unit is a 24 hour/7 day a week operation composed of multiple shifts; including holidays, weekends, and possible extended shifts, located at the Massachusetts Probation Service Training and Operation Center (MTOC).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Investigates and responds to equipment- generated alerts and advises clients on best practices to stay in compliance and troubleshoots any issues.
- Answers telephone calls from Court Officials, clients and other case-related callers, which may include victims. Responds to inquiries, provides guidance to remedy issues raised by callers and ensures compliance which may include corrective action.
- Maintains accurate accounts of notes and narrative as it relates to investigation and troubleshooting within the software.
- Works with probation, parole and DOC officers to monitor clients on GPS and remote breath alcohol equipment.
- Communicates issues to probation officers, parole officers, DOC personnel, the WMU, and MPS senior staff as it relates to case-related alerts and justice-involved client issues.
- Prepares and sends warrants, in conjunction with the WMU, and communicates with law enforcement.
- After victim-related warrant issuance, contacts victims via phone and initiates Victim Notification Protocol, if victim has requested notification.
- Processes schedules and client profile changes under WMU, MPS, Parole and DOC authorization.
- Maintains contact and develops working relationships with local probation departments and outside agencies.
- Investigates inquiries from local law enforcement including providing tracking information and completing crime correlation requests.
- Prepares statistical and narrative reports for Program Manager and Electronic Monitoring Coordinators.
- Performs administrative and clerical tasks.
