Job Description:
Equipment Maintenance Technician I (Facility Closure & Relocation)
Job Summary:
Working under close supervision, performs a variety of physical labor tasks in support of a facility closure and relocation. Duties include moving furniture and equipment, disassembling and reassembling items, and using hand and power tools. Follows detailed work instructions that require limited judgment and decision-making to complete.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lift, carry, move, and load furniture, office equipment, boxes, and other materials safely.
- Disassemble and reassemble furniture, shelving, workstations, cubicles, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Pack, wrap, label, and inventory items for storage, transport, or disposal according to instructions.
- Load and unload trucks, carts, and dollies.
- Remove and dispose of debris, trash, and unwanted materials according to company procedures.
- Help clean and clear work areas during and after the move.
- Operate moving equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, pallet jacks, and furniture carts.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report damaged items, safety hazards, or problems to the supervisor.
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications Knowledge Requirements
- Able to learn job tasks and follow company policies and procedures.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Safe use of basic hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, pry bars, Allen keys) and power tools (drills, impact drivers, saws).
- Basic mathematics for counting, measuring, and tracking inventory.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and help with heavier items as part of a team.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach for long periods.
- Able to work in areas that may be dusty, noisy, or not climate-controlled.
Education & Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Zero to two (2) years of experience in general labor, moving, warehouse, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
