SUMMARYThe Grinder inspects products as they come out of the machinery, removes any defective pieces, and provides finishing touches on the rest by hand. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Inspect machinery and work pieces to ensure they remain compliant with specifications to reduce malfunctions and loss of production.
- Ensure grinding wheels are dressed according to specifications so that machines remain at peak working capability.
- Stop any machines upon discovery of a problem and make required adjustments as quickly as possible to minimize downtime.
- Provide quality control by inspecting work pieces as they come out of the equipment and removing defective pieces.
- Operate machinery, including polishing and grinding equipment, to grind metal work pieces to prescribed specifications to ensure high-quality products.
- Finish products by hand using hand tools to ensure surfaces are filed or finished accordingly.
- Maintain equipment by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed.
- Identify potential issues and recommend corrective action measures.
- Complete all paperwork and documentation required with order.
- Meet customer requirements by following work instructions including work orders and specification sheets.
- Operate equipment efficiently and safely while meeting required quality standards.
- Follow company personnel and product safety requirements.
- Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Uphold company core values.

- This position is a lead but has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

- Capability to read drawings and inspect the work being performed.
- Perform standard physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, and using hands/fingers.
- Occasionally perform non-standard activities such as climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Computer skills sufficient to log in and out of ERP and payroll time tracking software.

- Interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
- Complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.

- Operate in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 1-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add and subtract up to four decimal places. Ability to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
