Floater Paraprofessional/Monitor – Grade 4
Supports the school district by assisting in various capacities to ensure the best possible learning experience is being provided for all children in a safe and secure environment while maintaining confidentiality.
This position requires high school diploma or equivalent. Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
Will be required to be trained in all paraprofessional/monitor job classifications which include Annual Crossing Guard training, Crisis Prevention Intervention training, Health Aide training (CPR/AED, Diabetic, Diastat, Administering Meds, Food allergies, etc), and any other trainings deemed necessary to be successful in this role.
Experience working with children, required. Experience working with special education students, preferred. 6 months or more of health related experience, preferred.
Knowledge of school policies and safety regulations, required. Working knowledge of computers, preferred.
Good communication skills, required. Adaptability to learn, required.
Ability to remain calm during medical emergencies, required. Ability to effectively comprehend and use the knowledge learned in specific training classes, required. Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching skills, required. Ability to handle and relate to emotional and physical challenges, required. Ability to be caring, understanding, patient and friendly towards students, required. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required. Ability to read and interpret school policies, handbook, prescriptions and physician care plans, required. Ability to write simple routine reports, required. Ability to meet deadlines, required. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and classroom situations, required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds when assisting and lifting students and 30 pounds in lifting and moving of files, material, computer and audio visual equipment, etc.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
