As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work alongside teachers and school staff to help create a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment for students with varying educational and behavioral needs.

You may provide one-on-one support, assist in small group settings, or support the classroom as a whole depending on student needs.

• Support students throughout the school day under teacher supervision
• Assist students with classroom participation and daily routines
• Help reinforce learning activities including reading, writing, math, spelling, life skills, and social development
• Encourage positive behavior and assist with behavior intervention strategies when needed
• Support student self-care and daily living needs
• Build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold school safety standards
• Adapt to different classroom environments and student support needs

Paid training may include:

• CPI / Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
• Special Education Core Training
• Behavioral and social-emotional support techniques
• Student-specific support training as needed

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience working with children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, compassionate, and dependable personality
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced school environment

• Experience working with special education students
• Experience in schools, childcare

• Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, or assist students throughout the day as needed

School setting with moderate to loud noise levels and active student interaction throughout the day.

• Are comfortable supporting students with autism, cognitive impairments, emotional impairments, and other special education needs.
• Are willing to assist with behavior intervention and de-escalation techniques under teacher direction.
• Can build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate classroom structure and expectations.
• Are flexible and willing to support different classrooms, students, or school buildings as staffing needs change.
• Value teamwork and can collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, administrators, and other support staff.
• Understand the importance of confidentiality, professionalism, and following school procedures.

• Experience working in special education classrooms
• Experience with children who have behavioral or developmental disabilities
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification or willingness to complete training

Students thrive on consistency. Because of the important relationships built with students, dependable attendance is an essential part of this role.

Candidates should be comfortable:

• Arriving on time each scheduled day
• Following established call-in procedures for absences or lateness
• Communicating promptly with both HR and school administration when attendance issues arise

This role may involve working with students who display challenging behaviors, including verbal outbursts or physical aggression. Comprehensive training and support are provided, and you will work under the guidance of experienced school staff to help maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
