CNC Machinist Team Lead

Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Team Lead to oversee and support overnight production operations on the 3PM–3AM shift. This is a direct hire role. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for keeping CNC machines running efficiently throughout the night while ensuring quality, productivity, and minimal downtime.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with Hurco CNC machines, advanced troubleshooting skills, and the ability to independently diagnose and repair machining issues to keep production moving.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support CNC machining operations during the overnight shift
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Hurco CNC machines
• Monitor machine performance and keep all equipment running efficiently throughout the shift
• Troubleshoot mechanical, tooling, and programming issues with minimal supervision
• Change tooling, offsets, inserts, and fixtures as needed
• Maintain continuous operation of water jet machines during overnight production
• Diagnose machine failures and perform minor repairs to minimize downtime
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
• Verify part quality using precision measuring equipment
• Adjust feeds, speeds, tooling, and machine settings to improve performance and quality
• Work closely with operators and production staff to ensure production goals are met
• Maintain safe and organized work areas
• Communicate production issues and shift updates to management and incoming teams

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience preferred
• Previous leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred
• Experience with Hurco CNC controls and machining centers required
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to keep machines operational and respond quickly to production issues
• Experience changing tools, offsets, and machine setups
• Understanding of CNC machining processes including milling, tooling, and machine maintenance
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Familiarity with CNC programming edits and conversational programming preferred

Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently on an overnight shift

Preferred Skills

• Conversational CNC programming experience (Hurco conversational controls preferred)
• Knowledge of tooling selection, machine calibration, and preventative maintenance
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and operational machine issues
• Understanding of production flow and lean manufacturing practices

• 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Full-time position
• Overtime may be required based on production needs
