Instructor/Assistant Professor of Psychiatric Nursing - School of Nursing

Mississippi College seeks a qualified and dedicated Instructor or Assistant Professor of Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Nursing. This full‑time faculty position is a critical part of our mission to prepare skilled, compassionate nurses who are equipped to meet the healthcare needs of children and their families.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in psychiatric nursing, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical components.
  • Supervise students in psychiatric clinical placements and assess clinical competencies.
  • Assist in curriculum development and continuous improvement related to psychiatric nursing education.
  • Serve as an academic advisor and mentor for nursing students.
  • Participate in departmental committees, accreditation activities, and faculty governance.
  • Engage in scholarly or professional activities consistent with rank and institutional expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, required;
    Doctorate in Nursing preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered RN license (or eligibility for licensure) in Mississippi.
  • Minimum of two years of recent clinical experience in psychiatric nursing.
  • Strong teaching, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching psychiatric nursing in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with simulation‑based instruction and online learning platforms.
  • Experience with accreditation processes (e.g., CCNE, ACEN).
