The Senior Financial Analyst within the budget office works with financial data to ensure the proper spending controls are in place. The SFA helps develop and maintain revenue and spending budgets for accuracy, control and compliance.
Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, and three years of related experience. Medical/healthcare or higher education experience preferred. Master's degree in business or healthcare administration strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesRequires excellent communication and project management skills and proficient use of formulas in Microsoft Excel or similar skills.
Responsibilities- Supports the implementation, presentation and ongoing management of the capital, operating, statistical & personnel budgets.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure accuracy of data submitted in budget and decision support systems.
- Performs financial analysis and makes recommendations to senior leadership and other key areas
- Learn and assist in implementing a new Financial Planning/Reporting/Decision Support application. Learn the details of the application and be able to configure the application to UMMC needs.
- Develop financial strategies, management reporting and analytics for the organization.
- Prepares financial forecasts, including projected revenue, expenses, net income, cash and borrowing.
- Understand business drivers and strategies, interpret financial data and present key findings and recommendations to improve results.
- Extracts, verifies, compiles, analyzes, and formats data from other healthcare industry databases and other sources for planning, benchmarking, decision support, evaluation and accountability purposes.
- Reconcile source data from Epic and Workday into the Financial Planning application.
- Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual and ad hoc financial reports and analysis.
- Analyze financial reports to ensure revenue and expense are being captured in the appropriate cost center.
