Revenue Specialist I

The Department of Revenue is the primary agency for collecting tax revenues that support state and local governments in Mississippi.

This position is in the Review Board and Tax Policy area of the agency. The Review Board is the first level administrative appeal body for taxpayers who are aggrieved by an action of the Department of Revenue. The Tax Policy area is responsible for researching and drafting proposed rules and other policy statements on behalf of the agency and reviewing applications for tax incentives.

This job has a wide variety of responsibilities including research and writing for Review Board minutes and orders, auditing and approving agency certified incentives and credits, drafting agency rules and regulations, drafting letter rulings and declaratory opinions, and other duties as assigned.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree or High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 4 years of experience.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting or related field
