Job Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for short and long‑range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
- Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
- Provides leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring consistency within the school system instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines.
- Serves as coordinator for the Universal Service E‑Rate program for the district and assists with all technology grants received through the program.
- Maintains an inventory of all district hardware and software and service maintenance agreements.
- Reviews, approves, purchases, and maintains appropriate computer hardware, software, and data communication equipment acquisitions, and oversees the installation and maintenance of that equipment.
- Supervises technology personnel, including selection of new employees, employee transfer/promotions, and evaluation of employees.
- Communicates with district and school personnel on long‑range plans and status of technology and serves as liaison to Mississippi Department of Education technology staff.
- Oversees the implementation of state testing platforms as required for assessing student achievement; assists with state testing to ensure all student devices are up to date with the correct operating system, platform installation, secure browsers and verification of capacity estimators.
- Acts as designated contact for the district’s state testing protocols and execution.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
- Regular in‑person attendance required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Computer Engineering, or related technology field.
- Exhibits outstanding mastery of computer hardware, software, and network utilization.
- Experience in firewalls, enterprise system administration, and cyber security.
- Considerable knowledge of networking hardware, infrastructure requirements, and components of local and wide‑area networks, as well as software applications, capabilities and limitations, service requirements and associated costs.
- Advanced degree in technology.
- Experience in hardware and software in educational applications.
- Experience working in a K‑12 school setting.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
