Job Summary Spread, level, smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, slabs, table tops, beams, panel, foundations, walkways, roads, and/or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Grout columns, patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
Key Responsibilities Use appropriate hand and power tools to place concrete into finished forms to specified textures; vibrate, level, smooth and shape surface of concrete; finish concrete surfaces to specifications; remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specificationsMold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and strait edgeSignal truck and or pump truck driver to facilitate pouring concrete, and move chute as needed over concrete forms and/or rebarApply hardening and sealing compound to cure surface of concrete, and waterproof or restore surfaceMust have working knowledge of auto level and transit for accurate layout and verification of finished grade and placement measure, cut, assemble and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts; construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms, according to specifications for molding concrete structures; erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms; insert spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions;
anchor and brace forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks and timber; build wooden structures such as scaffold supports and frame shelters according to specifications and project specifications; pour concrete into finished forms to specified textures; vibrate, level, smooth and shape surface of concrete; finish concrete surfaces to specifications; remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound;
and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications . Be familiar with self-leveling underlayment's . Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process . May be asked to assist carpenters, and rod busters with any necessary tasks for the installation of concrete structures . Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requestedEngage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuriesUnderstand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromisedWatch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professionalIf needed, use your stop work authority until the issue is resolved . Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed . Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussionsIdentify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards . Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (ie back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens) .
