TITLE: Mechanic

REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman

LENGTH OF CONTRACT OR WORK YEAR: 12 months (240 days)

POSITION TYPE: Full-Time

SPECIFIC

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs, diagnoses and repairs district's automotive diesel equipment.
• Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
• Performs general automotive diesel repair and preventive maintenance as required.
• Operates a school bus as a substitute driver when needed.
• Records all maintenance and reports to district vehicles and equipment.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman or Director of Transportation.
• Maintains regular in-person attendance.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated success in a wide variety of automotive diesel mechanical repair tasks.
• Positive references and successful experience with recommendations.
• Ability to adapt to mechanical repair assignments made by the Shop Foreman or Director of Transportation.
• Satisfactory driving record with a Commercial Driver's License, class B with a "P" passenger endorsement, "S" school bus endorsement, and Air Brakes endorsements.
• Participation in DOT random testing.

• Ability to use basic computer and engine diagnostic equipment.

• High school or trade school degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
