Overview

Break Time Store Managers oversee the performance of an assigned Break Time Convenience Store. Responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating employees and a keen focus on customer service and store sales. Store Managers are energetic leaders who believe it only takes a moment to make your day better.

Responsibilities
  • Working with customers—Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers and encouraging the store team to do the same; consistently and courteously greet and thank each customer and provide fast and friendly service; actively support peak hours; handle complaints quickly and courteously; conduct accurate and efficient transactions.
  • Day-to-day store operations—Oversee all aspects of store operation including daily reporting, banking, inventory, bookkeeping, and fuel management; ensure the facility and all equipment and property is well maintained and in good condition; maintain store cleanliness; ensure timely open and close and observation of all scheduled hours of operation; execute food programs including promoting food service and safety.
  • Merchandising and sales—Ensure proper execution of marketing programs; work with management to identify opportunities to increase sales; perform all merchandising activities including proper pricing, knowledge and implementation of promotions and sales, suggestively selling to customers, proper vendor check‑in, and keeping all merchandise stocked, clean, fronted, and faced (including the cooler).
  • Supervising—Oversee general operations of assigned store; supervise store employees, including scheduling and organizing work; provide clear direction; train, develop and motivate employees; enforce company policies and safety requirements; monitor productivity; conduct performance evaluations; resolve conflict in a timely manner; review and approve employee time entries to ensure adherence to posted work schedules and proper clocking procedures.
  • Financial responsibility—Understand and manage store finances and profitability; control shortages and other expenses; prepare for and participate in cash, lottery, cigarette and general inventory audits, investigate results and plan for improvement; meet or exceed company goals for sales and controllable expenses; perform loss‑control functions related to cash handling, lottery sales and redemptions, food waste, employee purchases, merchandise sales, etc.; remain alert and properly report concerns.
  • Teamwork—Recruit, train, coach and develop a successful team of associates that strive to meet customers’ needs; exhibit professionalism in appearance, conduct and judgement; create a positive work culture, promoting teamwork every day to drive performance; lead the team to adhere to all local, state and federal regulations concerning all facets of job responsibilities and store operations.
  • Working with technology—Utilize the store’s technology; perform mathematical calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and count product; follow scheduling template.
  • All Break Time employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position‑specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Prior management/leadership experience.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Availability to work and/or support all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance with adequate transportation to/from bank.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Works well individually and in leading a team.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations to make change, complete shift reports, and account for numbers of products during vendor check‑in.
  • Ability to learn new concepts, use technical materials, and consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally ascend and descend ladders to handle inventory or products.
  • Ability to perform these duties and others as assigned, with accuracy, and with minimal supervision.
