Job DescriptionPosition Title: Administrative Assistant – Clerical Personnel
Reports To: Principal or Assigned Supervisor

To provide accurate and timely clerical and administrative support within the assigned area of responsibility, contributing to the efficient operation of the school or department.
Major Responsibilities- Utilize computer programs to compose letters, memos, agendas, minutes, and reports based on oral instructions or notes.
- Receive and respond to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries, providing basic information as needed.
- Plan and coordinate special programs and activities as assigned.
- Review, sort, and distribute incoming mail and email communications.
- Conduct research and gather information as requested.
- Serve as a backup to other administrative personnel as needed.
- Prepare, read, and understand various job-related documents including forms, reports, records, and correspondence.
- Use correct grammar, punctuation, and formatting in written communication.
- Communicate effectively with individuals and groups in a professional, clear, and courteous manner.
- Address questions or complaints appropriately and write using proper language conventions.
- Apply logical thinking and problem-solving skills to collect and analyze information.
- Understand and follow written, oral, or visual instructions.
- Communicate proficiently using required communication devices.
- Use and interpret job-specific terminology and mathematical functions accurately.
- Interact professionally with others, going beyond routine instructions.
- Maintain composure and adaptability during stressful or emergency situations.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and individual differences.
- Operate standard office equipment and, if required, a motor vehicle.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
The major physical and cognitive requirements listed above are applicable to the Administrative Assistant job classification within Sampson County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Should possess good hygiene.
