Migrant Family Liaison/Recruiter/Tutor

A 12-month position with state benefits that serves as Migrant Family/Liaison/Recruiter for Sampson County Schools and Clinton City Schools and serves as Migrant Tutor for Clinton City Schools.

The Migrant Education Program (MEP) Family Liaison/Recruiter is responsible for identifying and recruiting eligible migrant children and youth, supporting migrant families, maintaining required program documentation, and serving as a liaison between families, schools, and community agencies.

The work is varied and requires a flexible schedule to meet the seasonal demands of agricultural work and the needs of migrant families. This position plays a critical role in ensuring eligible students receive educational and support services through the Migrant Education Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Identification & Recruitment
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the district's Identification and Recruitment Plan and recruitment map, updating them at least twice annually
  • Identify, recruit, and determine eligibility for all migrant children and youth, ages birth through 21, residing within the school districts
  • Organize and implement recruitment initiatives focused on reaching communities with concentrated migrant populations and seasonal agricultural camps
  • Partner with schools, community agencies, employers, and other organizations to increase identification and recruitment of eligible families
  • Share information with families regarding preschool opportunities and other educational programs
Documentation & Compliance
  • Complete Certificates of Eligibility, needs assessments, screening forms, annual re-verification documents, and all other required federal and state documentation
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in required data management systems
  • Utilize program databases to monitor enrollment, eligibility, and services provided to migrant students
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local Migrant Education Program requirements
Family & Student Support
  • Serve as a liaison between migrant families, schools, and community agencies
  • Provide families with information regarding school programs, educational opportunities, and community resources
  • Assist families in accessing available services by making referrals and scheduling appointments when appropriate
  • Foster positive relationships that encourage family engagement and student success
Program Support
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of Migrant Summer School and other supplemental educational programs
  • Support the Migrant Parent Advisory Council, including meeting coordination and family participation
  • Participate in outreach events and activities that promote the goals of the Migrant Education Program
  • Provide migrant educational services and support, mainly in the form of tutoring, to migrant students at school, migrant homes, and other available and appropriate locations
  • Monitor and review student progress
Qualifications
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, school personnel, and community partners
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficiency in using computers and data management systems
  • Valid North Carolina driver's license and reliable transportation may be required
  • Associate's degree preferred
Working Conditions
  • Flexible work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of migrant families and seasonal agricultural work
  • Frequent travel throughout the district to conduct recruitment, home visits, and community outreach
  • Participation in state-required professional development and training
Compensation
  • Salary is based on the North Carolina State Salary NC07 and verified years of experience

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $35,938.90 to $56,272.40 Per Year
