GRADE: 64
SALARY: $18.16/hour Are you passionate about public safety? Sampson County is seeking dedicated professionals to join our Emergency Services team as Telecommunicators. As a telecommunicator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of Sampson County residents by responding to 911 calls requesting emergency assistance. Your work will have a real and lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
What you'll do:
Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for service and various tasks for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and partnering agencies
Provide guidance and assistant to the public in emergency situations
Assist in dispatching law enforcement, fire, emergency medical service personnel and equipment
Effectively operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) equipment to effectively communicate with response personnel
Utilize the International Academy of Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), and Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD) to protocol process and prioritize calls for service
Accurately maintain communication logs, law enforcement activity logs, and call reports
Enter/Modify/Clear National Crime Information Center (NCIC) files for law enforcement agencies such as Wanted Persons, Missing Persons, Stolen Vehicles, etc.
Other related duties as required
NOTE:
Rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, holidays, and weekend work is required.

Comprehensive knowledge of the geography of Sampson County Knowledge of basic computer skills; knowledge of telecommunication systems and equipment is preferred

Team players who lead with respect, patience, empathy, honesty, and integrity
Minimum Requirements:
A valid driver's license for the State of North Carolina is required of all applicants. Preferred applicants will have relevant training beyond a high school diploma with experience in communication dispatch work that provides the necessary skills required to serve effectively as a Telecommunicator. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
Special Requirements :
Upon employment, telecommunicators must be able to obtain the following certifications:
DCI Operator Certification issued by the State of North Carolina (90 days)
Basic Telecommunicator Certificate from the NC Sheriff's Training & Standards Commission (one year)
Additional certifications required upon employment include:
CPR certification
Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD), Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD)
Division of Criminal Information (DCI) Modules 1-3 National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700 & 800.Please list all relevant certifications held when submitting an application.
