The Momentum Counselor oversees the summer camp program by supervising and mentoring both campers and junior staff. This role focuses on creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment, leading activities, maintaining order, and modeling positive behavior and leadership for all participants.
Core Responsibilities- Ensure a safe, structured, and inclusive camp environment by actively supervising campers, enforcing safety protocols, and implementing positive behavior management strategies.
- Actively engage with students throughout all activities while fostering a supportive, nurturing environment and serving as a positive and caring role model.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator and fellow instructors to develop engaging lesson plans and activities.
- Prepare and organize required materials and effectively deliver all planned instructions.
- Monitor and actively supervise students during all indoor and outdoor activities to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
- Document and communicate significant student behavioral concerns to the program Coordinator in a timely manner.
- Perform end-of-day cleaning and organization of classrooms and common areas to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming facility environment.
- Perform any other duties as required by the program Coordinator.
Work in a classroom environment with the ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the classroom to ensure active supervision. Supervise children in various settings, including the swimming pool and during daily outdoor activities with daily exposure to varying weather conditions. Always maintain required teacher-to-child ratios to ensure safety and compliance.
QualificationsCollege degree or attending college
PreferredSkills:
- Proficient in managing classroom environments to promote positive behavior, engagement, and a productive learning atmosphere.
- Effectively communicates ideas and information through both clear written and oral communication.
- Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills to effectively prioritize responsibilities and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification.
