The special education assistant works in a classroom with special needs students.
- Helps students with instruction and classroom activities.
- Accompanies students during transition times.
- Assists with feeding, moving, toileting, diaper changes, cleaning after accidents, washing and drying clothes, etc.
- Works cooperatively with teachers to assist students with self‑help skills.
- Physical demands include pushing a wheelchair, lifting and moving students and equipment, bending, squatting, and seating on chairs or floor.
- High school diploma / GED.
- Either 60 college credits or pass the Work Keys/WIN competency exam (can be done after hire).
