Director Engineering - Industrial Coating Systems

Job Summary

Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions, a global leader in industrial coating solutions, is seeking a senior engineering leader to direct Divisional engineering organizations that support multinational manufacturers and OEMs producing precision dispensing equipment. The Engineering Director will oversee new product development, sustaining engineering, and electrical/controls/software, while meeting key performance indicators and delivering engineered systems from quote to installation.

• Lead the next era of innovation at Nordson Industrial Coating Solutions by directing a high‑performing engineering organization focused on breakthrough technologies that build on our legacy and extend our global leadership in industrial coating, spraying, and dispensing equipment solutions.
• Guide the product development team through the design, validation, and release of projects using the stage‑gate process, ensuring design projects exceed product requirements, meet cost targets, and are fully verified and validated before commercialization.
• Coordinate documentation for releases, manuals, and spare part lists to support product launch.
• Collaborate with marketing to evaluate new design opportunities that could result in new commercial products.
• Manage new product development and test & evaluation budgets for the engineering teams.
• Lead the application engineering team in quoting and processing engineered system orders, ensuring customer specifications and delivery requirements are met.
• Demonstrate strong customer passion, responsiveness, and superior communication in project management and issue resolution.
• Utilize the Nordson Business System Next (NBS Next) to drive growth and continuous improvement.
• Quantify the value of our customers and products through VOC and product vitality metrics, focusing on core customers and attractive growth opportunities.
• Make data‑driven decisions that sustain profitable organic growth.
• Develop employees and increase engagement through strong talent management and change leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 10 years engineering experience.
• Minimum of 10 years previous management experience.
• Experience in practicing and implementing Lean methodologies with measurable results (preferred).
• Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (preferred).
