Position: Injection Molding Commodity Buyer (Level III)

General Description

  • Support purchasing activities relating to sourcing and services related to Commodity purchasing (Multiple process suppliers related to commodities).
  • Ensure purchasing support to supplier quality activities is adequate.
  • Provide guidance to buyers for purchasing related activities.
  • Develop Commodity strategy for supplier improvement
Responsibilities
  • Can replicate roles from Level I & II buyer, plus:
  • Ensure supplier is maintaining agreed upon contractual agreements including cost and capacity.
  • Evaluate Injection molding (Cosmetic, Structural, and assembly) supply base cost model and work together with Costing department to establish North America Standard.
  • Lead Injection molding supply pool strategy and supplier source ability status together with Supplier quality.
  • Lead post SOP cost savings initiatives with strategic supply partners to meet North American profit goals.
  • Lead supplier VA/VE process in Post SOP stages.
  • Can audit suppliers’ process for cost reduction opportunities and lean manufacturing.
  • Work Closely with each assembly plant to address outsourcing strategy of tooling and molds.
Job Requirements Work Experience
  • 5-6 years’ experience in automotive materials or purchasing
  • Experience in identifying and developing a Supplier Panel.
Education
  • College degree required in relevant field.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to use various Microsoft based programs and or MRP programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data.
  • Strong knowledge of injection molding process requirements and terminology (e.g., PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Validation, Mold Flow Analysis)
