Position Summary
The Pipe Foreman leads underground utility crews while actively performing pipe installation. This position is responsible for hands-on production
, crew direction, safety, quality control, and coordination to ensure main line pipe is installed correctly, safely, and per plans and specifications.
- Perform and lead installation of:
- Sanitary sewer mains
- Storm drain mains
- Water mains and services
- Manholes, catch basins, and structures
- Set pipe, check line and grade, and verify joint integrity
- Ensure proper bedding, backfill, and compaction
- Lead crew while working in the trench or at grade
- Assign daily tasks and adjust manpower as needed
- Train crew members on proper installation methods
- Maintain productivity and jobsite discipline
- Read and interpret plans, profiles, and specs
- Verify grades, elevations, and pipe slopes
