Iowa Digestive Disease Center and Iowa Endoscopy Center are proud to serve the community and surrounding areas with regard to digestive health needs. Our endoscopy center is one of only three centers in Iowa recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). The ASGE is known as the leader in setting standards for excellence in gastrointestinal endoscopy and has designed the only national program recognizing quality and safety in the practice of gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Our center has also been accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), having met their rigorous quality and safety standards. AAAHC accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards. Our board‑certified physicians specialize in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Diagnostic Endoscopy, Therapeutic Endoscopy, Infusion, and Advanced Therapeutics.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, detail‑oriented Scheduling Nurse to join our team. This role is responsible for the care of clinic patients and supports the delivery of high‑quality outpatient GI care. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and is passionate about improving patient outcomes through proactive and efficient support.

Education
  • Registered Nurse (RN) preferred, will also consider Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with relevant experience.
  • CPR certification is required.
Experience
  • Minimum one year of medical experience in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
  • Participation as a team member in support of the total clinic/care processes.
  • Assess and evaluate patients utilizing nursing assessment skills.
  • Schedule procedures, tests and specialty services as directed.
  • Schedule urgent tests in support of the clinic nurse.
  • Communicate regularly with assigned physicians regarding patient status and needs.
  • Focus on patient satisfaction and customer service while dealing with potentially difficult communication with patients.
  • Collect historical health and social information from the patient/family and document findings in the electronic health record.
  • Educate patients about procedures, test preparation, prescription medication and procedure instructions.
  • Identify priority patient needs and schedule services accordingly.
  • Make quick and clinically accurate decisions about patient care.
  • Support the emotional and physical needs of patients and families.
  • Make reasonable efforts to reach the patient.
  • Recall patients for follow-up testing per schedule.
  • Communicate any challenges or failures to reach the patient to the referring provider.
  • Coordinate services with physicians for at‑risk patients.
  • Schedule patients for additional services following triage and consultation with assigned physicians.
  • Work with coding/billing to ensure accurate claims submissions.
  • Perform timely and accurate documentation.
  • Initiate and respond to codes as needed.

Hours
  • No weekends or holidays.
  • Monday–Friday.
  • 7:30 am–4 pm or 8 am–4 30 pm shifts.
