Overview
Temporary work, 90 days maximum employment in any one calendar year. Under the direct supervision Parks Crew Leader, performs a wide variety of functions necessary to provide enjoyable park facilities for all visitors. Job entails routine maintenance of park facilities to include mowing and trimming, litter control, and facility cleaning.
Examples of Essential Job Functions- Mowing and trimming of park and other city facilities.
- Maintaining trash receptacles and providing litter control.
- Restroom and building and grounds maintenance to include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.
- Working cooperatively with and providing assistance to other staff members as assigned.
- Wear the staff uniform while on duty.
- Observes all safety precautions and assists others to provide a safe work environment.
- Attend all trainings and meetings required for staff.
- Reports any damaged or broken safety or mechanical equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
- Timely completion of assigned duties of the position and other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to think logically and follow written, verbal, or diagrammatic instructions using several abstractor concrete variables. Ability to follow instructions and directives. Knowledge of commercial lawn-care equipment and proper use procedures. Knowledge of general safety practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and the public; ability to tactfully handle a wide array of social situations.
Education, Training, and ExperienceEducation Required: Continued education in High School or above.
Experience
Required:
Any work in maintenance or repair of facilities or grounds is preferred.
Other
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have and be able to demonstrate knowledge of safe equipment operating practices. All staff should have good communication skills, show initiative, be dependable, show enthusiasm, and have a desire to serve the public.

Physical Characteristics of the JobMedium work requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and up to 50 pounds of force frequently.
Environmental CharacteristicsThe work is performed both inside and outside and includes seasonal exposure to heat and cold, rain, wind and other weather conditions. The worker may also be exposed to awkward or confining work spaces, darkness and poor lighting, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, moving machinery, noise vibration, visual strain, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, and traffic hazards. The work may expose the employee to unpleasant social situations, significant work pace pressures and at times irregular work hours.
Equipmentand Materials Used
Walk-behind mowers, riding mowers, string trimmers, MSDS information, cleaning supplies, hand and power tools, ladders and other maintenance equipment.
