As a Technician, you will provide exceptional customer service by performing mechanical repairs on material handling equipment at customer locations or in our branch shop. Recent graduates from technical schools with education in automotive and/or diesel repair are strongly encouraged to apply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Repair, diagnose, inspect, and maintain all material handling equipment for customer work orders assigned to you.
- Accept repair orders as assigned by Service Writer.
- Communicate with customers about diagnosed repairs, suggested or required work, and obtain approvals.
- Read work orders, observe and listen to trucks in operation to determine or diagnose malfunctions.
- Offer solutions to meet customer specifications.
- Submit work orders promptly.
- Provide estimates when appropriate.
- Repair, service, recondition, or assemble equipment as approved by the customer/Service Manager.
- Obtain necessary parts while working cooperatively with Parts staff.
- Perform mechanical repairs after a complete inspection and analysis of the breakdown.
- Record a complete repair description on the work order, including model and serial number and hour meter reading.
- Obtain a signature from the customer and communicate post‑repair details.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and safety devices on trucks and make adjustments.
- Lubricate moving parts and test repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
- Maintain a professional image, keeping the van and assigned work area clean.
- Operate shop equipment and tools.
- Notify Service Manager or Supervisor of safety issues and/or accidents immediately.
- Perform quality work quickly and professionally.
- Promote marketing efforts to drive parts, service, equipment, and rental sales.
- Complete service forms and submit directly to the Service department daily via work tablet.
- Act in line with the company’s core value – Safety Always – at all times, in all places.
- Be on‑call for emergency repairs and maintenance outside of regular business hours.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record; CDL may be required.
- Experience in forklift repair desired; intermediate maintenance experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills with customers and employees.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Must be able to provide own tools immediately; annual tool incentive is given.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- 3+ years of mechanic experience and/or education related to the position.
- Basic knowledge of computer and internet software.
