Film Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) – Clovis Community College

. This posting is designed to build an applicant pool for part-time faculty positions. Applications will be reviewed by members of the hiring department when vacancies arise.
- Teach a part‑time schedule of Film courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate a wide range of instructional delivery systems, including innovative and creative uses of technology for face‑to‑face, online, and/or hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter, adherent to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines of record.
- Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Turn in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
- Otherwise fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Master’s degree in Film/Cinema and Media Studies, Film, Television, and Media Studies, Drama/Theater, or Mass Communication; or
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the above plus a Master’s degree in Visual Studies, Media Studies, English, or Communication; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
- Experience and skill incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
- Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom.
- Williness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
- Related work and professional experience with diverse student populations.
- Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
- Experience with traditionally underrepresented student populations and the ability to support students across sociocultural and socioeconomic diversities.
- Experience in facilitating multicultural and cross‑cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with under‑prepared and high‑need community college students.
- Demonstrated ability and desire to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, student learning support, and student success.
- Proficiency with computers and other technologies used to provide high‑quality instruction and support.
- Effective communication with students and staff.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part‑time faculty placed on step one (1) of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification placements based on education and experience, as outlined in the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
- Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
The selection and hiring process for part‑time faculty positions is governed by the hiring department. If the hiring department is interested, they will contact the applicant directly to ask questions and/or extend an interview invitation. This position does not have a closing date and applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Applicants will remain in the continuous pool for 18 months;
if not selected within that period, a new application will be required if further interest exists.
