Ethnic Studies Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool)
Clovis Community College seeks an equity‑minded instructor to teach Ethnic Studies courses on a part‑time schedule.
Essential Functions of Position- Teach a part‑time schedule of Ethnic Studies courses as assigned.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate classroom technology for face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Apply appropriate teaching methods and adhere to approved curriculum outlines.
- Assess student progress via tests, examinations, written assignments, and oral responses, aligned with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with district policy.
- Submit all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Teach in various instructional settings and times, including classes as needed.
- Complete all other routine duties of instructors per Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
All applicants must demonstrate responsive teaching to diverse student backgrounds and an understanding of equity‑minded practice.
- Master’s in African‑American/Black/Africana Studies, Latino Studies, Chicana/o Studies, Asian‑American Studies, Native American/American Indian Studies, or Ethnic Studies; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- Equivalent education or experience (equivalency required).

Desirable Qualifications- Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion in instruction.
- Recent work with underrepresented student populations.
- Willingness to examine and revise instructional and relational practices.
- Experience with students of varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and disability backgrounds.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance student support.
- Proficiency with technology and virtual learning platforms.
- Strong communication skills with students and staff.
- Knowledge of assessment methods and community‑college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part‑time faculty assigned to Step 1 of the Part‑Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
- Salary classification based on education and experience per salary schedule.
- Sick leave accrual according to assignment hours.
