Engineering Instructor (One-Year, Full-Time Temporary) – Clovis Community College

- Teach transfer engineering courses (Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Graphics, Engineering Materials, Electric Circuits, Statics, Programming for Scientists and Engineers, Programming and Problem Solving in MATLAB, and related courses).
- Teach Computer Science courses where minimum qualifications are met.
- Maintain currency in pedagogy.
- Develop and participate in program review, student learning outcome development, assessment, and analysis to improve student learning.
- Participate in the accreditation process.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff, maintaining effective working relationships.
- Develop and utilize technologies for classroom presentations.
- Advise students.
- Participate in professional meetings, workshops, and guided pathways initiatives to promote student success and completion.
- Participate in student recruitment activities, department, college, and district committees.
- Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening, weekends, online, off‑campus, and large group instruction.
- Fulfill all faculty duties per Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to diverse student backgrounds and an equity‑minded practice.
- Master’s in any field of engineering, or
- Bachelor’s in any field of engineering plus a valid California Community College Credential, or
- Equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).
A bachelor’s in engineering with a professional engineer’s license is an alternative qualification.
Desirable Qualifications- Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all responsibilities.
- Recent experience working with racially minoritized students.
- Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including those with disabilities.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to engage racially minoritized students.
- Experience teaching a broad range of courses using diverse pedagogies.
- Knowledge of engineering curriculum and assessment standards.
- Ability to develop curriculum in emerging areas and use educational technology.
- Strong communication skills.
- Team collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
178 duty days per year, prorated based on start date.
Salary and BenefitsStarting annual salary: $71,054 – $106,970 (based on education and experience). Annual doctoral stipend: $2,419. Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, and participation in CalSTRS.
Selection Procedure- Application screening by Human Resources for completeness and minimum qualifications.
- Candidates meeting minimum qualifications and submitting required documents will be reviewed by a selection advisory committee.
- Selected candidates will receive interview invitations.
- Interview levels: first‑level and final interviews scheduled as appropriate.
- Selected candidates will be recommended to the Vice President and College President for final interviews and approval.
