Meet First Baptist Church of Clovis
FBCC is a welcoming Christian church located in Clovis that focuses on building community, spiritual growth, and discipleship. The church emphasizes a “come as you are” culture, encouraging people from all backgrounds to explore faith without judgment. FBCC offers Sunday worship services, children’s and youth ministries, small groups, and programs for men, women, students, and young adults. Their mission centers on helping people grow in their relationship with Jesus while creating meaningful connections with others.
The church also provides online sermons, live‑streamed services, and community events to keep members engaged throughout the week.
The Youth Pastor is a vital leadership position in the ministry and outreach of FBCC. Rather than working in a silo, you will serve as an integral member of the pastoral team, sharing in the spiritual care of our entire church family.
Your primary charge is to champion the discipleship and evangelistic outreach of students in grades 7–12. This involves more than just teaching; it’s about fostering a culture of mentorship. You will recruit and empower a team of passionate volunteers and partner strategically with parents. You will be equipping them as the primary disciple‑makers in their teenagers’ lives.
Responsibilities- A Man of Prayer
:
First and foremost, you will be a man of devotion to the Lord. You will lead out of a surplus of your own walk with Christ, prioritizing personal intercession for our students and families. - Championing Praying Church
:
Having spent 2025 striving to become a praying church, we continue to build this culture from the top down. You will actively participate in and lead corporate prayer, teaching our youth that prayer is not a supplemental activity but our primary source of power and direction.
- Biblical Teaching
:
Primary responsibility for the weekly teachings at youth gatherings, ensuring a steady diet of biblical instruction that points students to the Gospel. - Curriculum Oversight
:
Select or develop biblically sound resources for small groups and other teaching environments. - Life‑on‑Life Mentorship
:
Maintain a regular rhythm of one‑on‑one or small‑group discipleship with students, modeling what it means to follow Christ.
- Volunteer Cultivation
:
Recruit, vet, and train a team of adult leaders. Conduct regular training to sharpen their theological understanding and relational skills. - Student Leadership
:
Identify and pull alongside spiritually maturing students to help them discover their own spiritual gifts and a heart for service.
- Strategic Communication
:
Maintain clear and consistent communication with the parents regarding teaching topics, events, and the vision of the ministry and their role within it. - Resource Provisioning
:
Create or curate resources (articles, books, workshops) that help parents navigate the specific cultural pressures facing 7th – 12th graders.
- Bridge Building
:
Actively work to integrate youth into the main life of the church (corporate worship, service projects, Mexico Mission trip, and mult‑generational fellowship). - Whole‑Church Involvement
:
Participate in weekly staff meetings, prayer meetings, and rotating “on‑call” duties for the broader congregation (e.g., visitations, counseling, weddings). - Utilizing Other Gifts
:
Beyond the youth ministry, you will invest roughly a quarter of your time blessing the broader FBCC family by exercising your other specific gifts (these might include some of the following: pastoral counseling, wider church teaching, and preaching, adult discipleship groups, worship music, facilities care, digital presence). We want to see you flourish in the full breadth of your gifting and calling.
- Events with Purpose
:
Oversee the planning of retreats, camps, and activities, ensuring they serve a clear discipleship goal rather than just “entertainment.” - Mexico Mission Leadership
:
Champion the vision and logistics for our annual church‑wide mission trip to Mexico. You will lead the charge in mobilizing our…
