Position Overview
American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor (Part‑time Faculty Pool). Clovis Community College, Clovis, CA.
The role is part‑time with start dates that may vary. The instructor will provide ASL instruction in a variety of settings, including evenings, weekends, online, and hybrid formats.
Responsibilities- Maintain professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the ASL instructional role.
- Use a variety of pedagogies and integrate innovative technologies for face‑to‑face, online, and hybrid formats.
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Teach using appropriate methods, adhering to the institutionally approved curriculum.
- Evaluate student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., aligned with course objectives.
- Provide course syllabi to students.
- Maintain classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
- Submit all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher AND at least two years of directly related experience.
- Associate degree AND at least six years of directly related experience.
- A valid California Community College credential.
- Equivalency of education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
- Experience addressing equity in the classroom.
- Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
- Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices.
- Ability to teach a second foreign language.
- Recent community college teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop diverse teaching techniques and assessment methods.
- Ability to engage student interest across learning styles.
- Promotion of instructional technology use in curriculum delivery.
- Experience with computer‑assisted instruction and instructional technologies.
- Effective oral and written communication and working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Ability to develop new and current curriculum focused on student learning outcomes.
- Experience working with students from diverse ages, cultures, economies, and education backgrounds.
- Preparation for and interest in teaching community college students.
- Potential for contribution to institutional vitality and growth.
- Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Starting rates range from $47.31 to $64.25 per hour for lectures and $40.22 to $54.65 per hour for labs. Sick leave accrual is based on assignment hours.
