Contracts Teaching Assistant - SJCL (Clovis)
Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a vital role in classes across the Law School. The TA will work with the professor to provide assistance with research and development of in-class exercises, activities and essays for “advisory grades”; meet with students to give one-on-one feedback on non-graded assignments and course outlines; provide optional study sessions for small groups of students on certain topics as needed;
attend some classes if possible.
TAs may not be involved in any way in grading any materials that determine a student’s final grade. TAs may enroll in assistantship elective units.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing in-class exercises, advisory graded essays and quizzes
- Work one-on-one with students regarding outlines, general questions and non-graded assignments
- Facilitate small study sessions
- Attend some classes if possible
- Maintain detailed log of hours worked
Qualifications
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with a diverse group of individuals and first-generation college students
- Dependable and able to follow instructions
- Demonstrated commitment to upholding the SJCL Honor Code and adherence to the ethical standards of the legal profession and to maintaining confidentiality of any potentially confidential information
- A final grade of 75 or higher in Contracts I and Contracts II
- Able to work approximately 45 hours during the fall 2026 school year
Salary Range: $/hour
