About This Role
Under the direction of the Safety Manager, the Safety Technicians are responsible for coordinating, updating and maintaining programs including safety incentives program, first aid, and online programs. It is expected that discretion and confidentiality will be exercised when handling sensitive issues.
Responsibilities- Active participation in Wawona Frozen Foods safety program to maintain a healthy and injury‑free environment.
- Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
- Follow all GMP, HAACP, Food Safety, Food Defense, and SQF policies and procedures.
- Report Food Safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Maintain a good attendance record to ensure that there is no interruption to production or services to our customers.
- Work safely in accordance with company's safety program requirements.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Check safety equipment as required.
- Provide first‑aid as necessary for injured employees.
- Conduct behavioral observations throughout the plant as directed.
- Update and maintain tracking systems for safety program (meetings, checklists, etc.).
- Maintain medical/office supplies inventory and order supplies as necessary.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Enhance safety and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Walk facilities and conduct daily audits of operations.
- Two plus years' experience working in a manufacturing, construction, industrial, or related setting in a safety role.
- Experience conducting safety audits, root cause analysis, and safety reports.
- Experience leading safety meetings.
- Experience maintaining and demonstrating a safety culture, building rapport and trust to ensure employees go home safe.
- Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and recognize similarities and difference.
- Ability to do basic math, addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Ability to perform operations while maintaining high level of safety, wearing proper personal protection equipment, and maintaining safe driving and operation of equipment standards.
- Ability to do continuous repetitive work.
- High attention to detail, and thorough practice of note/record keeping.
- Ability to disseminate facts and determine root cause of accidents, incidents, issues, and hazards.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills.
- A strong work ethic and a can‑do attitude.
- Self‑motivated and self‑starter.
- Ability to work with various employees and employee levels while building rapport and respect.
- Ability to read, write, and understanding instructions in English.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Must be punctual and regular attendance is required.
- Understand and follow all color‑coding rules as stated in procedures.
- Ability to use various computer programs including Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Act and demonstrate clear understanding of safety protocols and procedures while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- This position will work out of our Cedar or Alluvial location, based on assignment.
- Shifts include 1st, 2nd, Graveyard (24‑hour operations).
- Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
