Since 1982, the California Health Collaborative (CHC) has a long history of working with youth and their families through culturally responsive and community-centered public health programming. With a mission of “changing lives by improving health and wellness", CHC is committed to addressing and advocating for health justice among California’s underserved and underrepresented communities who have limited access to resources, and often face barriers related to culture, language, income, race, education, gender, geography, or immigration status.

JOB SUMMARY:

Through funding from the California Department of Public Health – Tobacco Prevention Program, the California Health Collaborative is focused on reducing health disparities among and engaging the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) populations through a healing-centered tobacco prevention program. Asian Pacific Islanders Partners and Advocates Countering Tobacco (API PACT) is a Central Valley-based tobacco control program serving Merced and Fresno County AANHPI communities with intentional community engagement that centers voice, agency, wellness, culture, and healing as we build momentum towards ending California’s tobacco epidemic.

The California Health Collaborative is recruiting one full-time Project Coordinator (PC) for the API PACT Project. This position will be based in either Livingston or Clovis, CA. With support from the Director of Program Services, the Project Coordinator will lead the team in the engagement of AANHPI community partners and advocates of all ages in program activities for API PACT to implement smoke-free outdoor areas and multi-unit housing (MUH) policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Consults with the Project Director relative to planning, policy, and program direction.
  • Responsible for being the lead community engagement staff member in creating safe and inclusive environments for participants, including youth, engaged in API PACT.
  • Presents and models values and behavior consistent with inclusivity, respect, and affirmation of all partner identities.
  • With support from the Project Director, develops program progress reports, correspondences, promotional and other program materials.
  • In coordination with the Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC), assists in the oversight and planning for all program activities, including strategic planning sessions, policy meetings, community events, evaluation activities and educational presentations.
  • Facilitate the coordination of either a youth, young adult or adult coalition in partnership with Livingston and Clovis leaders to invite various sectors and agencies in both communities to get involved in program initiatives.
  • Support the CEC in the coordination of the Community Engagement Agreements (CEA) Program to engage local AANHPI serving organizations in program efforts.
  • Support the CEC with development and coordination of paid media and social media advertisements and maintaining the program’s social media pages to share educational information, cessation resources, and program highlights and updates.
  • Lead the coordination, development and maintenance of a program website that will act as a central hub for networking, strategizing, and information dissemination.
  • Supports in reducing barriers for youth participation by identifying methods to meet youth where they are at, identifying modes of transportation to support youth in accessing program activities, and on occasion transports youth in personal vehicles.
  • Be available to meet with youth and adult program participants during the school day, after school or on weekends or evenings as required to meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensure community advocates are central to the planning of all program activities and ensure authentic engagement in the project’s efforts in Livingston and Clovis.
  • Supports the CEC in the development of coalitions tasked with leading Policy, Systems and Environmental change in Clovis and Livingston regarding a smoke-free outdoor area and/or MUH policy.
