We are seeking a compassionate, patient-centered Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient psychiatry practice. This role is responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing treatment planning for patients.
The ideal candidate is clinically strong, collaborative, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This position works closely with therapists, support staff, and other providers to ensure coordinated, evidence-based care that supports positive patient outcomes.
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including review of mental health history, symptoms, and clinical needs
Diagnose mental health conditions and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide medication management, including prescribing, monitoring effectiveness, and adjusting treatment as clinically appropriate
Educate patients and, when appropriate, family members on diagnoses, medications, side effects, and treatment expectations
Monitor patient progress and response to treatment through follow-up visits and ongoing assessment
Complete timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record
Coordinate care with therapists, primary care providers, case managers, and other members of the treatment team
Identify and respond appropriately to clinical risk, including suicidality, homicidality, grave disability, and other urgent psychiatric concerns
Maintain current knowledge of psychiatric best practices, prescribing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Participate in team meetings, case consultation, and clinical collaboration as needed
QualificationsCurrent, active Nurse Practitioner license in the State of CA
Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
DEA license and furnishing/prescriptive authority as required by state law
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
Prior psychiatry or behavioral health experience strongly preferred
Experience with outpatient psychiatric medication management preferred
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations
Proficiency with electronic health records and standard clinical documentation requirements
Preferred QualificationsExperience treating children, adolescents, and/or adults in an outpatient setting
Familiarity with trauma-informed, culturally responsive care
Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team
Work Environment /Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based outpatient setting
Requires prolonged sitting, computer use, and frequent patient interaction
Must be able to manage competing priorities while maintaining professionalism and clinical quality
