Job Description:This is a community-based, grant-funded position that serves community members of the Pueblo of San Felipe, providing prevention, management coordination, and grant-required services in accordance with the Pueblo of San Felipe Tribal Administration and the applicable federal grant-awarding agency. The incumbent will have an interest in diabetes or be willing to learn about diabetes. The position is an administrative assistant for the Special Diabetes Program for Indians (SDPI, including tasks from the program staff, and participates in live programming with community members as needed.
This position is a 4-day benefit position.
- Provides administrative assistant support to program administrator/coordinator as required, including, but not limited to, creating flyers, tracking program attendance, phone duties, procuring program items, and generating and updating social media posts.
- Documents activities, including the number of individuals screened, the number of individuals receiving physical activity consultation, and the number of individuals who meet program goals and objectives.
- Support program nutritionist as needed. To include managing referral forms from the San Felipe Clinic. Dietitian appointment scheduling for referred patients. Adding appointments to the shared Outlook calendar. Making reminder calls.
- Attend program activities to assist the program moderator in facilitating the execution of the program.
- Creating purchase orders for program supplies, nutrition classes, and community outreach events.
- Other duties as required.
- Demonstrates computer skills necessary to organize data for essential care delivery.
- Support team members in assessing gaps in diabetes care and services that are culturally appropriate, high-quality, evidence-based diabetes prevention and treatment programs.
- Knowledge of customs and norms of the Pueblo of San Felipe community, and appreciation for the importance of traditional ways of lifestyle and language.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide scope of people, including families, children, youth, professionals, tribal groups, government agencies, private agencies, and tribal leaders.
- Maintains confidentiality of all records and reports maintained for the health program.

- To perform successfully in this position, an individual must be willing to learn new skills, adapt to unfamiliar routines, work evening hours, and work effectively independently and as a team member. Ability to positively present self to community to promote program activities—willingness/ability to travel to collaborative project sites and national meetings/training as necessary.
- Preferred qualifications include knowledge of Microsoft Office (WORD, Excel & PowerPoint, Outlook), and Canva or another design platform. Must be able to communicate in Keres and in English.
Education: Incumbent must have a High School Diploma or GED, and office experience.

Licenses/Certifications:
Current basic CPR certification, current NM State driver’s license. - Physical Requirements: Requires driving and involves standing, bending, and walking within the community, schools, clinics, and homes. Ability to drive a car in all types of road conditions. Lifting and carrying are necessary to set up equipment for special events, clinics, and teaching programs. Must have manual dexterity to enter and retrieve data from a computer.
