PARKS MAINTENANCE CONSTRUCTION SPECIALIST 1 OR 2 (2 VACANCIES)
JOB TITLE: Parks Maintenance Construction Specialist 1 or 2
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Community Services/Parks Recreation and Open Space
SUPERVISOR: Parks District Supervisor or Designee
Salary ranges are:
Parks Maintenance Construction Specialist 1 - $20.61 to $33.55/hr
Parks Maintenance Construction Specialist 2 - $22.71 to $36.99/hr
Position Summary: Under general supervision of the Parks District Supervisor or Designee, performs grounds and facility maintenance for parks, grounds, ball fields, medians and trail construction and maintenance. Operates truck and/or powered grounds equipment. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications for Parks Maintenance Construction Specialist 1:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six months of experience working outdoors or building construction or maintenance work experience, OR 15 college credits from an accredited college or university.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess or have ability to obtain within sixty days of employment and must maintain a valid New Mexico Class D driver’s license.
- Must possess or have ability to obtain within first six months of employment, and must maintain Community First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Successful completion of the pre-employment physical exam prior to commencing work.
- If in possession of a valid New Mexico CDL driver’s license at the time of application or if obtained after being hired, must successfully complete mandatory drug screening and subsequent random drug and alcohol screenings.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for Parks Maintenance Construction Specialist 2:
- Additionally, one year of experience in projects involved with facilities/park maintenance, backhoe/truck operations and general construction involving concrete and carpentry work.
