Job SummaryThe Technical Designer, Signage works in a fast‑paced, creative environment as a member of the Visual Development team. This role will directly support the Senior Graphic Designer, Signs on the development of a comprehensive Sign Program. This role involves technical drawing, documentation updates, and sign program build‑out using Adobe Illustrator and the Hot Door Cad Tools plug‑in.
Key Responsibilities- Sign Schedule Updates – update and maintain the master sign schedule to ensure accuracy for quantities, IDs, descriptions, materials, and locations as well as coordinate updates with technical drawings.
- Installation Map Updates – update install maps using floor plans or site plans. Label and place sign IDs accurately. Cross‑reference with the sign schedule.
- Sign Program Build‑Out – develop a complete sign program, ensuring alignment with brand or environmental graphic guidelines, including sign families, materials and fabrication specs, mounting details and location plans and mapping.
- Technical Drawings – produce production‑ready technical drawings for each sign type. Use Cad Tools for precise dimensions and geometry. Provide fabrication notes, mounting details, sections, and elevations.
- Participate in the concept development and design of signage and way‑finding systems that support the overall creative vision and guest experience.
- Develop original environmental graphics and signage solutions across a variety of project contexts.
- Translate creative direction into distinct visual communication systems using independent artistic judgment.
- Exercise independent creative judgment in determining layout, typography, hierarchy, and visual composition.
- Interpret brand and environmental guidelines to create unique and project‑specific design solutions.
- Make design decisions that directly impact the production and installation of environmental graphics and signage.
- Solve complex environmental and way‑finding challenges using a combination of creative and technical design expertise.
- Develop innovative solutions that balance aesthetic intent, functional requirements, and spatial constraints.
- 5 years of experience in signage design and production or other related industrial, technical, and/or manufacturing fields.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience using Hot Door Cad Tools (must‑have).
- Experience with sign programs, EGD, architectural drawings, or way‑finding systems.
- Ability to create accurate technical documentation.
- Knowledge of California ADA Requirements.
- Knowledge of Life Safety Signage.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage version control.
- Good communication and ability to take feedback.

Dallas, TX;
New York, NY; or Los Angeles, CA.
Starting bi‑weekly pay: $2,230.77. Compensation may vary based on candidate location and experience.

Work Environment & Physical DemandsThis job operates in a professional office environment and also in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/or enclosed spaces. Physical demands include walking, standing, taking stairs/slides/elevators, and navigating the elements during the day and night. The employee may be required to remain seated or standing for prolonged periods and repeat motions that may include wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
