Assistant Professor and Program Director for Practical Nursing (12-Month)

Make a difference where it matters most, by educating the nurses of tomorrow. Alfred State invites passionate nursing professionals to apply for a full‑time, tenure‑track Practical Nursing Professor position beginning in Fall 2026. A 12‑month appointment is preferred; a 10‑month pro‑rated faculty appointment is also considered.

The Practical Nursing (PN) Instructor provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students enrolled in a growing PN program. This role supports student learning, promotes safe and competent nursing practice, and ensures that instruction aligns with state regulations, program standards, and current evidence‑based nursing practice.

Key responsibilities include curriculum development, faculty recruitment and evaluation, didactic, skills, and clinical instruction, budget management, student retention, and maintaining clinical partnerships.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and deliver engaging course materials.
  • Teach and evaluate students in classrooms, labs, and clinical settings.
  • Mentor and advise students throughout their nursing journey.
  • Play an active role in curriculum development, program assessment, and student recruitment.
Requirements:

Required:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Nursing Education; candidates with a bachelor’s degree in nursing who are enrolled in and actively pursuing a master’s degree or higher in nursing will also be considered.
  • NYS Professional Nursing License & current CPR certification
  • Strong teaching, clinical, communication, and computer skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities

Preferred:

  • Doctorate in Nursing or related field
  • Experience with simulation‑based learning
